This second edition will bring together around 100 Master in Master in AI from Paris 8, Paris-Saclay and the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi for a week of innovation. The JDN is a partner of the event.
Overheated GPU servers, concentrated students and companies looking for innovation: this is the recipe for Hackathon “Generative ai” which will take place from April 4 to 11, 2025. Paris 8 University, Paris-Saclay University and Quebec University in Chicoutimi are launching the second edition of the event. The three partner universities each bring their specific expertise: Paris 8 University with its three Master 2 courses (I2A, CSSD, Bigdata) oriented towards Applied AI, Paris-Saclay University with its Master ISD recognized for its Excellence in Data Science, and the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi with its North American AIA approach and its connections with the Canadian ecosystem, in the field
For a week, 100 Master students specialized in AI, divided into 25 teams will face real issues offered by several companies (SNCF, Nokia, Accenture, BNP, Orange, Snowflake, and several SMEs). Each project will receive an academic assessment counting in their university course, as well as a professional assessment that can lead to certifications recognized in industry thanks to the partnership with Snowflake. The main objective is to create a bridge between the academic world and industry. For students, this is an opportunity to apply their knowledge on concrete cases and obtain a double validation: an academic note and professional certifications. For partner companies, it is an opportunity to discover the potential of generative AI in their sector, test a specific use case and identify new talents.
A several stages
The hackathon will start with a kick-off on April 4 where companies will present their issues. The teams will then work all week on their projects, with the technical support of Snowflake. The latter allows participants to access a advanced cloud infrastructure, including NVIDIA A30, A100 and H100 GPUs, essential for working with the most advanced generative models. Semi-finals will be held on April 10 in each establishment to select the best projects. The great inter-establishment final will take place the next day, April 11, 2025, where a jury made up of IA experts and representatives of partner companies will select the three best projects, plus a “favorite”.
The projects will be evaluated according to several criteria: technical innovation, the relevance of the solution to the expressed need, the quality of the demonstrator developed, and the clarity of the presentation. In addition to the academic assessment carried out by teacher-researchers during the semi-finals, the final will see external experts who will bring an industrial look at the solutions proposed. This event, reserved for Master 2 students from the three partner universities, is brought to grow in the years to come.
